4 Daily Exercises for Recovering From Perfectionism
If you’ve made it here from Part 1, you've already recognized that perfectionism might be holding you back more than it’s helping you succeed. But knowing and doing are two different things.
After all, perfectionist habits have often become our default operating system, running quietly in the background of every decision, every project, every interaction. But just as perfectionism is learned, it can be unlearned.
And unlike the all-or-nothing thinking that perfectionism demands, it’s all about small, consistent shifts that gradually rewire your relationship with achievement, mistakes, and self-worth.
In this second part, we’re moving from theory to practice. We explore concrete tools and exercises you can start using today, sustainable systems that support long-term change, and perhaps most importantly, new ways to acknowledge and celebrate your efforts that don’t depend on flawless outcomes…
What’s Your Health Mission? How to Define It and Live by It Every Day
We all say we want to be healthier… eat more veggies, get back to the gym, finally catch up on sleep.
But goals like these often fizzle out because they’re built on short bursts of motivation. What happens when that spark dies out? That’s where a health mission comes in.
Think of it like your guiding North Star.
Instead of chasing quick fixes, your mission is the steady guide that shapes your choices every day - whether you’re standing in front of the fridge at midnight, deciding to skip the snooze button, or choosing calm over chaos.
It’s bigger than a diet or workout plan; it’s the story you tell yourself about why you care about your health in the first place.
In this post, we’ll dig into…
One Positive Action
Truth Spill
You spend a lot of time managing how you come across to other people, choosing your words carefully, and editing yourself before you speak. But sometimes you need to just let your real thoughts and feelings come out without worrying about how they sound. There's something freeing about getting honest with yourself on paper, even if nobody else ever sees it.
Set a timer for five minutes and write about what you really need right now. Don't worry about spelling, grammar, or whether it makes sense. Maybe you need more sleep, or space to figure something out, or for someone to actually listen to you without trying to fix everything. Maybe you need to admit you're scared about something, or that you're tired of pretending you have it all together.
This kind of unfiltered writing helps you get clear on things you might not even realize you're feeling. When you're always editing yourself, it's easy to lose track of what you actually want or need. Sometimes you have to let the messy, unpolished thoughts come out before you can figure out what's really going on underneath.
Today, grab a piece of paper or open a blank document and set a timer for five minutes. Write about what you really need right now. Let whatever comes up just flow out without stopping to think about it. When the timer goes off, you can keep it private or throw it away. The point is just to give yourself permission to be completely honest for a few minutes.
