What is Ikigai? The Secret to Finding Your Life's Purpose From Within
Let’s take a moment here to be completely honest: Life is tough.
When morning comes, some days, it’s difficult to drag ourselves out of bed. We might wonder, “What’s the point?” In turn, this can create resistance in our lives and even lead us to spiral into a pit of despair.
If this sounds familiar, know you aren’t alone.
But how do others do it?
What causes one person to go about their life with such joy (no matter what task or endeavor they meet)?
Well, it might come down to a Japanese concept known as “ikigai.”
What is Ikigai?

Do You Take Things Personally? These 5 Mantras Can Help You Stop
Years ago, I was in a relationship where I tended to take things personally, many of which had absolutely nothing to do with me.
I didn't realize it at the time, but I was dealing with a lot of insecurity and emotional mayhem. I made plenty of things about me, and reacted from a space of woundedness, rather than a space of empowerment.
The good news is I've done a lot of inner healing work since then. I rarely deal with that insecurity anymore, which helps me take things much less personally. I also engage with some spiritual practices that help in this area, such as meditation.
When we interact with people, whether it's loved ones, coworkers, strangers, or acquaintances, many things they say or do will be a direct result of their…
One Positive Action
Follow Your Curiosity
Remember being a kid and getting completely absorbed in learning something new? That spark of curiosity didn't disappear when you grew up; it just got buried under deadlines and the constant pressure to be productive. We often think of growth as something structured, like signing up for a course or setting a big goal. Sometimes the easiest way to grow is by just letting curiosity lead the way.
Set aside 15 minutes today to follow your curiosity wherever it takes you. Maybe that means reading an article about a topic you've always wondered about, watching a tutorial that excites you, or diving into a podcast episode that sparks your interest. The subject doesn't have to be "useful" in any traditional sense. Your interest alone is enough, and that interest is often a clue to where your energy and potential actually lie.
When you give yourself permission to explore what naturally grabs your attention, you tap into an energy that feels effortless rather than forced. Curiosity keeps your mind fresh and engaged, taking you out of autopilot. It creates a sense of joy and possibility because learning something new, even in small bursts, reminds you that there's always more to discover about yourself and the world. Over time, these little moments of curiosity can connect to bigger passions and even hint at your deeper purpose.
Today, carve out 15 minutes to explore something you're curious about. No agenda, no expectations, just interest. Notice how your energy feels during and after. Sometimes the smallest sparks of curiosity are the ones that light the way forward.
