With the amount of time we spend hunched over our phones, or sitting on our laptops, I bet you have shoulder and back issues too, but did you know that there’s actually a psychological benefit to straightening up, chest up and shoulders back?
When you’re hunched over, you’re giving your brain signals that you’re closed off, maybe insecure, or stressed. This hunched posture can actually increase feelings of anxiety and low mood, because it makes you physically smaller and withdrawn.
So the next time you’re feeling anxious, stressed, low mood, check that posture. Imagine a string attached to the top of your head pulling you up, this will naturally settle your head over your spine, pulling your sternum up, and rolling your shoulders back. When you take on this posture, you might find your mood lifting, and suddenly you feel more energized, and confident.
So head up, throw those shoulders back, and go out and conquer your day!
