Return to the Child Version of You
There's a version of you who existed long before social pressure, expectations, and constant self-editing. That child still lives somewhere inside you. Your inner child is still curious, playful, unfiltered, and deeply alive, and reconnecting with that version of you will help you to remember the parts of yourself that were never afraid to take up space or feel joy without permission.
Somewhere along the way, we start thinking everything needs to earn its place in our lives. We all get too busy, too serious, and somewhere along the way we started telling ourselves the old joys are childish or pointless. That’s when we trade them for things that feel more grown up but leave us feeling emptier.
Your playfulness, that spark, is still there. It may have been buried under responsibility and noise, but it is still in you. Allowing space for your inner child reminds you that you're allowed to live playfully and with curiosity, even as an adult. Reconnecting with it can help you approach your life with less stress, more imagination, and gentleness toward yourself.
Choose something today that the child version of you would have loved. Give yourself permission to do it without judgment or reason. Let it be imperfect, low-pressure, and real. Let that small act of joy be a way of telling your younger self, "I didn't forget you."
