Burnout is a beast, isn’t it?
You don’t just wake up one day and say, “Oh, I’m burned out!”
It creeps up on you slowly—until one day, you feel like you’re stuck in quicksand and can’t move. Maybe you're overwhelmed, mentally drained, or just emotionally tapped out. It’s not a great place to be, but here’s the good news: you can work your way out of it, even if you’re not sure where to start.
The key is to start small.
You’re not expected to fix everything at once! In fact, the first step is just taking care of your basic needs.
Let’s break this down into phases so you can gently find your way back to feeling like yourself again.
One Positive Action
Write a Gratitude Note
Here’s a feel-good challenge: write a short note of appreciation to someone you’re grateful for. Don’t worry, you don’t need to actually send it to them. (although they’d probably love it!)
Just take a moment and reflect on why this person is important to you. Are they your oldest friend? Did they go out of their way to lend you a hand?
By focusing on why you’re grateful and putting it into words can work wonders for your mood, and even your relationship with this person, as that sense of gratitude and appreciation will stick with you next time you see them.
Gratitude has a way of shifting your focus from what’s missing to what’s already amazing in your life.
Whether you end up sending the note or keeping it to yourself, you'll feel a little lighter, a little happier, and a whole lot more grateful!
