How to Overcome Fear: The Practice of Facing What You Are Afraid of
Chances are, you’ve been gripped by intense fear before.
It can be very frightening. Life throws all sorts of things our way and being in the unknown can feel quite scary. I can say for myself that overcoming fear is a continuous practice.
Fear holds so many people back in life and can keep you from experiencing peace. It can be quite debilitating and cause us to live each day riddled with anxiety. Fear causes people to feel locked up when they yearn to feel free.
Fear also stagnates your growth and creates other negative emotions.
Bust Out of the Prison of Fear
The kind of fear that keeps people in bondage is the irrational kind of fear. The kind of fear that acts as your enemy, or wants to conquer you and keep you down.
Think of fear as a tornado that whirls and twirls destroying whatever is in its path.
Your Weekend Reset
Ready for a weekly reset? Try a few of these tips to unwind, connect, or get creative. We’ve got you covered to make the most of your downtime!
Morning Yoga: If you haven’t tried it before, follow a beginner session on youtube, and it’s time to kick off each day this weekend with some yoga! Even a simple routine can help you center yourself, boost your energy, and set a positive tone for the day. Whether you’re new to yoga or have a regular practice, focus on breathing deeply and stretching out any tension. You’ll feel the difference immediately - more calm, clarity, and motivation to take on whatever the weekend brings.
Explore a New Café: There’s a good chance you’re like me and you love your coffee. Make some time to explore a new café (try a little local shop, starbucks doesn’t count!) this weekend and enjoy a peaceful moment with a hot, dark cup of coffee, or whatever else strikes your fancy. Find a cozy corner, order something you wouldn’t usually get, and bring along a good book or even just people watch. It’s a simple escape that can make your weekend feel like a mini-adventure.
Mindful Journaling: Set aside some time for mindful journaling and let your thoughts flow onto the page. Reflect on how you’re feeling, jot down your goals for the upcoming week, or simply write about what’s on your mind. It’s a great way to clear mental clutter and set some intentions with a fresh perspective. Use this time to dig a little deeper and connect with yourself. You’ll be amazed at how even a few minutes of writing can help you feel more focused, present, and ready for whatever comes next.
Book Recommendation: For a weekend of deep reflection and insight, dive into The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. This book will take you on a journey to understand and free yourself from limiting beliefs, so you can live more fully in the present. Singer offers a new way of seeing your mind’s chatter, guiding you toward inner peace and a sense of true liberation. It’s the perfect book for anyone looking to deepen their self-awareness and explore a more expansive way of living.
