Feeling Stuck in the Worry Loop? 4 Simple Practices to Break Free

You know all about the worry loop.

You want to experience life with plenty of peace and joy, right? We all do.

But many people (and I mean large masses of society) experience more anxiety and worry than feelings of peace or joy.

According to Ipsos' What Worries the World survey of 20,000 adults in 29 countries, the most common things people are worried about include inflation, the current economic situation, poverty and social inequality.

Closer to home, with the ups and downs of the economic situation, housing and food costs (and shortages), the American election, multiple wars and extreme weather, it's no wonder we feel so worried.

So, what can we do about all this worry?

This Week’s Healthy Recipe

mmm…. Pho.

Nourishing Pho to Feed Your Body and Soul

Pho (a beloved Vietnamese soup), in my opinion, is one of the most comforting meals.

As the weather cools off, this recipe is like a warm hug in a bowl. But it’s also got tons of good in it, particularly when it comes to nourishing our mind and soul.

So, below, we take a closer look at how to make this yummy soulful food at home, as well as why you might want to (beyond its yummy flavors!).

Yes, this recipe has a bit of a time commitment.

But this all on its own can contribute to better mental health

One Positive Action

Completely unplug for an hour

Completely, nothing, nada, no “oh I just need to check” or “but I need…”

No you don’t.

Take a break. No screens, no notifications, no distractions.

We’re so used to having technology at our fingertips that it’s so easy to get overwhelmed and addicted to the information flow. (How many of you play on your little screen while watching something on the big screen? I’m certainly guilty of it)

Giving yourself just one hour without screens lets your mind breathe, rest, and reset. It’s a chance to step away from the constant stream of information and let your brain recharge. You'll be surprised at how calming it can be to embrace a little quiet and enjoy the moment without the usual digital noise.

Use your new, free hour to do something screen-free: read a physical book, take a walk outside, or simply sit and daydream. The world won’t fall apart if you take a break.

Unplugging might feel uncomfortable at first, I’m sure many of you will subconsciously reach for your phone just out of habit, just remind yourself this is your hour, everything else can wait. In a world that’s constantly buzzing, intentionally choosing to disconnect for a while is a powerful act of self-care.

So, go on, give yourself that hour and let the world hit pause while you enjoy the freedom of being unplugged.
