From Self-Neglect to Self-Nourishment: A Relearning of Love
There’s a quiet kind of exhaustion that creeps in when you’ve spent too long taking care of everyone but yourself.
You tell yourself you’re fine… just a little tired, just busy, just doing what needs to be done. But somewhere in the mix of deadlines, relationships, and endless to-do lists, you stop hearing your own voice. You stop asking what you need.
It doesn’t happen all at once. It’s gradual, like a slow dimming. One day you realize you can’t remember the last time you did something simply because it brought you joy. Or when you last felt deeply rested, not just physically, but emotionally.
Self-neglect can be sneaky like that…
3 Excellent Reasons Why You Should Set Boundaries With Yourself
We often tend to blame others for the dissatisfaction we feel in our lives.
Other people don't do their job well, they don't respect our boundaries, they misunderstand us, and so on.
But more often than not, many of our problems are caused due to the lack of proper boundaries with ourselves.
Boundaries are an important aspect of maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself.
Setting boundaries requires discipline and self-awareness.
It prompts you to be clear about your needs, goals, and values.
Instead of living on autopilot and wasting your potential, you become more intentional about your daily choices…
One Positive Action
Mental Cross-Training
Most of us use our brains the same way every day. You might spend hours solving problems, making decisions, and keeping things organized, but completely drained, or maybe your days are filled with creativity and intuition, and by evening your thoughts are scattered and relentless. Either way, you’re exercising one side of your mental strength while letting the other sit still.
When you stay in one mode too long, your thinking starts to stiffen. You stop seeing new solutions because you’re using the same mental pathways over and over. Your brain is running the same track without rest or variation, leading to mental fatigue.
Your mind needs variety to stay fresh, like cross-training at the gym, switching up the movement builds balance and keeps you from burning out. The same concept applies to your thoughts. When you deliberately shift from logic to creativity, or creativity to structure, you give your mind room to reset.
Notice which mental mode you’ve been in today, creative or analytical, and spend ten minutes doing the opposite. Don’t aim for results, but give your mind a change of pace. You’ll be surprised by how much lighter and sharper you feel afterward.
