One Positive Action

Clear the Comparison

If you’re anything like me, sometimes you open your phone for a quick scroll, and within minutes, you feel smaller. You see other people doing things or living the the life that you want. You close the app feeling worse than when you opened it, and yet, you’ll do it again tomorrow.

Comparison is one of the most subtle ways we drain our confidence. It sneaks in through harmless habits, convincing us we’re just “keeping up” when really, we’re keeping ourselves stuck. Research shows that regular exposure to upward comparison can decrease self-esteem, increase anxiety, and distort how you see your own progress.

The fix isn’t deleting social media altogether, but you can curate what you consume so it supports you instead of undermines you. You can’t grow when your focus is constantly pulled toward someone else’s highlight reel. Clearing even one source of that noise can make more difference than you expect.

These are boundaries, and they don’t make you judgemental or bitter. You’re allowed to protect your peace and attention. You’re allowed to mute, unfollow, delete, or block anyone whose content consistently makes you feel behind or not enough.

Today, scroll through your feed with honesty. Notice who consistently leaves you feeling anxious, inadequate, or resentful, then unfollow, mute, or block that account. You don’t owe anyone access to your mind. Every time you remove one comparison trigger, you make space for something better.
