One Positive Action

Mindful Breathing Pause

This is my go-to when I’m really feeling on edge. If you’re feeling stressed, worried, anxious, etc. a ‘mindful breathing pause’ is an effective way to give yourself a little mental reset in just a few seconds.

All you need to do is for 30 seconds, close your eyes, breathe deeply and slowly, and really focus on the sensation of air filling your lungs and gently releasing. Let any scattered thoughts or worries fade into the background, and simply focus on the rhythm of your breath.

Deep, focused breathing activates the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, which is our body’s natural relaxation response. This quick pause can lower your heart rate, reduce stress, and calm your mind.

Studies show that deep, slow breathing can positively affect our overall mood and mental clarity, especially when practiced regularly. Even if it’s just half a minute, that moment can gently shift you from a tense or rushed state into one that feels more balanced and controlled.

The best part? You can do this literally anywhere. Between tasks, sitting in traffic, or winding down at the end of the day, you can tap into this simple practice whenever you need it.

Over time, you might find that this habit brings a new sense of calm and focus into your day!
