Feeling Stuck in the Worry Loop? 4 Simple Practices to Break Free
Written by: Dominica
You know all about the worry loop.
You want to experience life with plenty of peace and joy, right? We all do.
But many people (and I mean large masses of society) experience more anxiety and worry than feelings of peace or joy.
According to Ipsos' What Worries the World survey of 20,000 adults in 29 countries, the five most common things people are worried about are:
crime and violence
inflation
poverty and social inequality
unemployment
financial/political corruption
Closer to home, with the ups and downs of the economic situation, housing and food costs (and shortages), multiple wars and extreme weather, it's no wonder we feel so worried.
So, what can we do about all this worry…
4 Gentle Ways to Deepen Your Nature Practice & Lower Stress - Anywhere
Written by: Krista
Maybe you’re taking more nature walks. You even started a little ritual. And for a few weeks, it worked out. You felt good. You stuck with it.
And then... sigh, life. The weather turned. Work got chaotic. You skipped a week, then two, and suddenly your nature practice is another thing quietly nagging at you in your “to-do” pile.
We end up treating it like an appointment, like something that needs doing.
But in reality, nature isn’t something you “do.” It’s more like a relationship, one you need to nurture and that you don’t necessarily need to schedule into the same time every week.
So, how can you make it stick?
How can you make this an ongoing relationship?
What can you be doing to deepen your nature practice?
Here are just a few ideas for you!…
Living Well, As You Are
"I Keep Missing My Own Life"
I started to notice how often I wasn’t actually present.
I would be in the middle of a conversation and realize I hadn’t fully heard what was said. I would finish something and move on so quickly that I didn’t register it. I would sit down to rest and immediately reach for something to fill the space.
My life wasn’t the problem.
My attention was.
You might recognize this in yourself. You move through your day, but your mind stays somewhere else. It jumps ahead to what needs to happen next. It goes back to something that already happened. It rarely settles where you actually are.
That habit feels normal because it’s constant.
It also means you miss most of your life while it’s happening.
I used to think being present required more time or better conditions. I thought I needed a quiet space or a slower schedule to do it properly.
That isn’t true.
Presence shows up in small, ordinary moments. It shows up when you decide to stay with what you are already doing instead of mentally leaving it.
I began to practice this in simple ways. When I noticed my mind drifting during a conversation, I brought it back. When I reached for my phone out of habit, I stopped. When I finished something, I gave myself a moment to register it before moving on.
You can do the same.
You don’t need to change your life to be more present. You need to change how you use your attention.
When your mind moves ahead, notice it. When it goes back to something that has already happened, catch it. Then return to what is in front of you.
You will need to do this often.
Your attention will keep drifting. That is part of the process. The work is not to hold your focus perfectly. The work is to return, again and again.
Over time, that changes how your life feels.
You notice more. Conversations feel more real. Time slows down enough for you to experience it instead of rushing through it.
You stop moving past your own life without realizing it.
Your life is not waiting somewhere else.
It is happening now.
You can choose to be here for it.
