Out with the Old: Letting Go of Toxic Habits This Spring

Spring isn’t just about sweeping out dust bunnies and opening the windows.

It’s a feeling. A reset. A quiet invitation to let go of what’s heavy and make room for what breathes life back in.

While you’re busy clearing out closets and scrubbing forgotten corners, don’t forget the clutter you can’t see; the kind that lives in your mind.

You know the stuff.

  • The habit of putting things off until panic sets in.

  • The endless “yes” when you really mean “no.”

  • That voice in your head that whispers you're not enough.

These mental mess-makers might be familiar, but that doesn’t mean they belong in your life…

7 Essential Lists to Simplify Your Life

Are you feeling overwhelmed and stressed by the chaos of daily life?

Do you often find yourself forgetting important tasks or feeling like you're constantly playing catch-up?

No matter what age you are or what season of your life, we ALL fall prey to the chaos of life with chores, errands, appointments, and so on.

If this sounds like you, it's time to take control and simplify your life - using the power of lists. Granted, lists are not just a simple piece of paper with tasks written on them; they are powerful tools that can revolutionize your organization, productivity, and mental clarity.

I’ve been making these essential lists for years!

One Positive Action

Do a 15-Minute Learning Session:

I don't know about you, but I always feel like I'm too busy (or distracted) to learn anything new. I'll tell myself I want to better understand how investing works or learn about astronomy, but then I never actually do it because who has time to sit down for hours and study? But here's the thing, you don't need hours. Fifteen minutes is enough to scratch that curiosity itch and actually learn something meaningful.

The idea is dead simple. Pick literally anything you've been curious about lately and spend exactly 15 minutes diving into it. YouTube is great for this, as you can find interesting videos on literally anything, but my go-to is always Wikipedia, it’s amazing the depths you can go down when looking up a simple subject. Set a timer so you don't get sucked into a three-hour rabbit hole, and just explore. The only rule is that it has to be something you're genuinely interested in, not something you think you "should" learn about.

What happens when you do this regularly is pretty amazing. Your brain stays sharp, you become more interesting to talk to, and honestly, you just feel better about yourself. There's something really satisfying about learning something new, even if it's small. Plus, I've found that these little learning sessions often lead to bigger interests or even career changes. That 15 minutes on photography might turn into a new hobby. That quick dive into personal finance might save you thousands of dollars. You never know where curiosity will take you.

So here's what you're going to do today. Right now, think of one thing you've been curious about recently, maybe it's something you overheard, saw on social media, or just randomly wondered about. Set a timer for 15 minutes, find a good YouTube video or article about it, and dive in. Just satisfy that curiosity. When the timer goes off, notice how you feel. I bet you'll feel a little smarter and a lot more engaged with the world around you. And who knows? Maybe this becomes your new daily habit.
