5 Self-Care Tips You Should Always Have in Your Back Pocket
Written by: Tatenda
What pops up in your mind when you hear the term 'self-care?'
Do elaborate visions of decadent massages and trips to the mountains in a faux fur parka come to mind? (I mean, that does sound wonderful.)
Self-care doesn't have to be extravagant, or even take that much time. It's really just a blanket term for the steps we practice to take care of ourselves.
One thing to keep in mind about self-care is the fact that it's ongoing and constant, meaning we never get to a point where we think that we've done enough and we don’t have to do more. There's always something going on.
From remembering your worth, to focusing your attention on one thing at a time to committing to not hitting snooze a dozen times before you get up (I do this too), these five self-care tips are ones you should always keep close…
How Strong is Your Intuition? 10 Ways to Develop it & Why You Should Try
Written by: Krista
In today’s society, fear is everywhere. The media and the world wide web have undeniably played their part and created an immense amount of stress, anxiety, and uncertainty.
While many have found their mental health has suffered, we also start to question ourselves and everything around us. We fail to trust our gut instinct, also known as our intuition.
Intuition tells us right from wrong.
It lets us know when we're doing something that isn’t in alignment with who we want to be or our values, and vice versa.
It’s that “hunch” we get when we are sure or unsure of something.
Yet, many of us fail to use our intuition, especially since the pandemic caught us all a bit by surprise; The unexpected happened. Yet, this doesn’t mean our gut instinct is always wrong.
So, what is an intuitive person…
Living Well, As You Are
"Letting It Be Enough"
I didn’t realize how often I turned stable things into projects.
Something would be working, and I would start adjusting it. A routine felt good, so I looked for ways to optimize it. A relationship felt easy, so I questioned it. A normal day unfolded, and I searched for how it could be more productive.
Nothing was wrong, but I just wasn’t letting it be enough.
You might be doing this too. You take something that is already functioning and immediately look for how to make it better. You tell yourself you are being intentional, that you are staying on top of things, that improvement is always a good idea.
But constant improvement has a cost.
Constantly looking for ways to optimize keeps you from settling into your life. It teaches you that what you have is never quite sufficient. It creates a quiet pressure to keep adjusting, even when there is nothing that actually needs your attention.
Over time, that pressure becomes your default.
You stop trusting stability and feel uneasy when things are simple. You assume there must be something you are missing, something you should be fixing, something that needs to be better than it is.
I had to learn to stop interfering.
When something works, I leave it alone. When a routine feels steady, I don’t change it. When a day is simple, I don’t try to make it more impressive.
That sounds easy, but it isn’t.
There is a strong pull to keep refining things. Your mind will suggest small adjustments and tell you that you could be doing more, doing it better, doing it differently.
You don’t have to follow that.
You can let something remain as it is.
This doesn’t mean you stop growing. It means you stop treating everything as unfinished. You allow parts of your life to stay stable without turning them into ongoing projects.
That change creates space.
You feel less pressure. You stop scanning for problems that aren’t there. You begin to experience your life instead of constantly modifying it.
You might not notice it right away, but over time, it changes how your days feel. There is more ease, steadiness, and more room to breathe.
Not everything needs your input, some things just need your acceptance.
You don’t need to improve what is already working.
