One Positive Action
Take a mental health day:
We’ve all been there: feeling overwhelmed, burned out, and unable to think clearly because our minds are overloaded. It’s “easy” to push through, thinking we just need to keep going, but that approach often leads to more stress, anxiety, and a cycle of burnout. When you take a mental health day, you’re recognizing you’re running on empty, it’s not a sign of weakness, or something to be judged. We all need a break from time to time, and if anything, admitting that to yourself takes a lot of strength.
We’re generally expected push through difficulties, to work hard no matter how we feel. But in doing so, we risk burning out and losing the resilience needed to keep going. Taking time for yourself restores your emotional reserves and gives you the space to rest and reset, improving your productivity and well-being in the long run.
When you take a mental health day, make it count. Don’t just sit on the couch and scroll through your phone, or catch up on chores. Do something that’s actually for YOU. Go to a museum, take a walk in nature, whatever it is that you find nourishes your heart and mind, find what helps you reconnect with yourself and DO IT. This day is for you. This is your time to recharge, no guilt, no obligations.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, call in, take a day when you feel you really need it. When you're struggling, you're not being a hero by still showing up to the grind every day. Sometimes being a hero is taking the time to treat yourself. Recharge. When you come back to it, you'll have that much more resilience to keep going. Don’t wait until you’re completely drained, you’re allowed to take a break when you really need it.
