Elevate Your Mood: Yummy Salmon Bowl with Mango Salsa | Mental Health Recipes

Lately, I’ve been eating more in line with the anti-inflammatory diet, which also so happens to align with the Mediterranean diet.

Put simply, there’s just an overwhelming amount of evidence indicating this type of diet supports health, well-being, and even longevity. So, this salmon bowl with mango salsa is an ode to this way of living!

Essentially, I’ve been eating fish (like salmon) about two to three times a week. And I finally feel on track with my nutrition.

Many modern Western diets tend to be higher in omega-6 fats and lower in omega-3s, creating an imbalanced ratio that may contribute to inflammation. Fatty fish, including salmon, help bring that ratio back into better balance, supporting overall health as part of a varied diet.

So, let’s dig into this one! How can you make it? And how exactly can it bring your mood up a notch…

Where Do Your Feelings Go?

Sometimes emotions build up quietly until they start weighing you down. You might not even notice it at first but you feel tense, distracted, or tired. Often, what makes it harder isn't the feeling itself but keeping it all inside.

How often do you actually let yourself feel what you're feeling? Most of us don't. We're too busy, or we think our feelings are inconvenient, or we're worried that if we start acknowledging them, they'll take over, so we shove them down and keep moving. Those feelings don't just disappear, though.

Taking a moment to get those feelings out can bring more relief than you expect. Write down one emotion that's been sitting with you lately, just name it and let it exist on paper. You don't have to fix it, but you do have to acknowledge it. Putting your feelings into words takes them out of your head and gives them shape. Once they're written down, they lose some of their intensity, and you can breathe a little easier. Sometimes that's all it takes to start feeling lighter.

Take five minutes today to write down one emotion that's been weighing on you. Be honest, even if it feels small or uncomfortable. You don't need to solve it. Just give it a place to land and let that be enough for today.
