6 Ways You Can Build & Maintain Trust in a Relationship
“Love cannot live where there is no trust.” – Edith Hamilton
The importance of trust in all types of relationships can not be overemphasized, yet most of us have been betrayed by the people we trusted at least once in our lives. As a result, we tend to dwell on how we can effectively handle relationships once trust has been broken.
Oftentimes we act as though the moment we meet someone, we start to trust them. We forget that trust is built, and if we do some reflection, we might realize that we don’t even know how to build trust.
This article explores some of the fundamentals which are essential in building and maintaining trust in relationships…
17 Signs You're Stronger Than You Give Yourself Credit For
Let’s face it, life can be brutal sometimes – beating down, and even breaking some of the strongest of us. Society can be hard and indifferent, always sending new challenges and obstacles our way.
Sometimes it feels like we never get a break from all the problems in life, with unexpected troubles hurtling towards us.
Other times it's just us with our weaknesses and flaws. Maybe we just aren't cut out for that kind of challenge. Maybe we have grown weary over the years.
How could you think you are weak when every time you break, you come back stronger than before? - RM Drake
Here's the thing: no one is immune to mistakes, exhaustion, or failure...
One Positive Action
Pay attention to what gives you a sense of purpose:
You find purpose in the small, everyday moments that bring you a sense of meaning, when you help a friend without hesitation, when you create something that feels true to you, when you speak up for something that matters. These moments might not feel big, but they are. They’re signposts, pointing you toward what makes you come alive.
There’s a deep connection between purpose and hope. When we know that what we do matters, even in the smallest ways, it shifts how we see the future. We stop feeling like we’re just drifting and start believing in the impact we can make. Hope isn’t about blind optimism, it’s about recognizing that our actions have meaning, that we are capable of making things better, for ourselves and for others.
But purpose isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always announce itself with certainty. Sometimes, it’s quiet. It’s in the things you’re drawn to, the moments that leave you feeling fulfilled but that you might dismiss as unimportant. Paying attention is the first step. Because the more we notice what truly fuels us, the more we can lean into it. And leaning into it is what makes life feel less like something we’re just getting through and more like something we’re actively creating.
So today, take a small step. At the end of the day, write down one moment where you felt engaged, energized, or connected. It doesn’t have to be huge, maybe it was a conversation that made you feel understood, or a task that gave you a sense of accomplishment. Over time, these small moments start forming a pattern. And that pattern? That’s your purpose revealing itself.
