4 Signs of Hoarding Disorder & the 5 Levels to Be Aware of

Have you ever thought that you might have a hoarding disorder because of the random stuff you have laying around?

Well, you’re not the only one who has had such thoughts, I’ve been there myself. To validate my self-diagnosis, I went on to research and learn more about hoarding disorder and this is what I found.

There is a fine but blurry line between having a lot of things and being a hoarder.

The media has made it even more complex to identify hoarding tendencies as the term is loosely used. We’ve seen panic buying being referred to as hoarding and people with more clutter than usual being called hoarders

Posture Check: Are You Making These Mistakes? 3 Good Posture Exercises to Try

Your parents might have barked at you growing up to “stand up straight” or “quit slouching!” And they weren’t just being “parents.” The truth is poor posture can drastically impact your quality of life and your health.

For instance, slouching can actually end up leading to breathing problems due to the reduced amount of space in the thoracic cavity. That’s pretty significant if you ask me!

So, let’s examine this a little closer.

What common mistakes might you be making?

How can you improve your posture?

One Positive Action

Use the power of “Why”:

Why do some people push through every obstacle while others give up at the first sign of resistance? It all comes down to why they’re doing it. If your reason isn’t strong enough, you’ll quit when things get tough. But when your why is powerful, when it’s tied to something that truly matters, you’ll do whatever it takes. You’ll dig deep, you’ll adapt, you’ll push past fear, because failure is simply not an option.

Think about it. If your goal is just “to lose weight,” that’s not enough to get you up at 5 AM to hit the gym. But if your why is “to have the energy to play with my kids and be there for them for years to come,” that’s a different game. That’s emotional. That pulls you forward instead of pushing you from behind. And when something pulls you, motivation isn’t a problem, you’re driven by something bigger than just a number on the scale.

So, what’s your why? What’s the deep, emotional, no-matter-what reason behind your goals? Don’t settle for surface-level answers. Dig deeper. Tie it to something meaningful, your family, your legacy, your sense of purpose. The stronger the why, the stronger your resilience. When challenges come (and they will), your why will remind you why quitting isn’t even on the table.

Right now, take a moment to write down why you want what you want. Make it big, make it emotional, make it real. Once you have that locked in, commit to it. Post it on your fridge, your desk, your car dashboard, somewhere you can be reminded each and every day.

Because when your why is unstoppable, so are you.
