The Motivational Mindset: Stop Waiting & Find Your Strong Drive

Picture this: It's a chilly Monday morning, and I'm curled up with my laptop, staring at a blank screen.

The week ahead looms dauntingly, filled with deadlines, responsibilities, and a to-do list that seems to stretch to infinity.

Sound familiar?

We've all been there, wrestling with that relentless foe called procrastination and desperately seeking that elusive spark to ignite our motivation.

But here's the thing, I've learned that motivation isn't just a fleeting burst of energy or a stroke of luck.

It's a skill, a mindset, and a force that can be cultivated and nurtured over time. And trust me, if there's one thing I've discovered on my own journey, it's that tapping into that wellspring of motivation can transform not only our productivity, but also our entire outlook on life…

Do You Need Some Tough Love? 7 Pointed Questions to Ask Yourself

Yes, it pays to approach things with care and kindness.

But… sometimes, what we really need is a good, old-fashioned kick in the pants.

Like when we procrastinate getting out of our bed in the morning and spend countless minutes scrolling our phones.

Or when we try to come up with every excuse in the book why we can’t do something (when we totally can!).

Tough love isn’t necessarily a bad thing

One Positive Action

The Habit Health Check: Is Yours Still Working?

Think about the daily habits that are part of your life on a day-to-day basis. From what you do first thing in the morning to how you wind down at night. Pick any routine, like your morning coffee ritual or evening phone scroll. The goal is to understand it (and yourself) better, and analyze whether or not it is serving you.

Start with a little trip down memory lane. When did this habit first show up in your life? Maybe that morning coffee started during stressful work periods, or scrolling began as a way to unwind. There's usually a story behind every habit, and understanding the origin can be pretty enlightening as to if that habit is actually benefiting you.

After identifying some of your habits, ask yourself: what need is this habit meeting for you? That social media scroll might be your way of connecting with the world after a long day, or your coffee ritual could create a calm moment before chaos begins. Even seemingly "unproductive" habits often serve important needs like comfort or stress relief. Being able to identify these motivations is a strong way to build self-awareness.

Finally, the most important question is if this habit serves you well? If it's adding value to your life, celebrate that. If it's not quite fitting your current goals, that's valuable information too. Can your habits be changed, or bettered in some way? Or maybe its time to step out of your comfort zone and change your routine. Either way, you're gaining self-awareness, and that's always worth celebrating.
