Your Sense of Self: What it is & 10 Ways You Can Develop It
How many of us become clueless when asked about ourselves?
It is easy to know and understand people around us, but looking in the mirror and properly seeing ourselves might not be easy. We tend to be blinded by what we think we are and that gets in the way of us properly understanding who we are and working towards who we want to be.
Having a sense of self does not come naturally to us, it's something we have to actively work towards achieving.
So let's take a look! What is a sense of self?
What is a Sense of Self?

One Positive Action
Create a “Decision Menu”:
How much time do you waste every single day just figuring out what to eat? Standing in front of the fridge at 7am going "I don't know, what sounds good?" Getting home from work exhausted and staring into your pantry like the answer to dinner will magically appear. Then you end up eating the same boring thing you always eat, or ordering expensive takeout because you're too decision-fatigued to figure it out. We make on average over 30,000 decisions a day, and honestly, "what should I eat" doesn't deserve to take up that much mental bandwidth.
A decision menu solves this by front-loading all your food choices when your brain is fresh and not hangry. You sit down once and pre-decide 3 breakfast options, 3 lunch options, and 3 dinner options that you actually like and can realistically make. These become your go-to rotation, no more standing in the kitchen having an existential crisis about food. When mealtime hits, you just pick from your predetermined list instead of starting from scratch every time.
The relief is immediate. No more decision paralysis at mealtime, no more "I don't know, what do you want?" conversations that go nowhere. You'll eat better because you planned when you weren't desperate and hungry. You'll save money because you're not panic-ordering delivery. Plus, you can prep ingredients ahead of time since you know what's coming. Your grocery shopping becomes way more efficient too, you're buying for specific meals instead of wandering around hoping inspiration strikes.
Grab a piece of paper and write down 3 breakfast options you actually enjoy and can make without too much hassle. Then 3 lunch options, then finally, 3 dinner options that don't stress you out to prepare. Keep it simple and realistic, if you never cook elaborate meals, don't put "homemade pasta with sauce from scratch" on your list. Stick this menu somewhere you'll see it, like on your fridge. Tomorrow morning, instead of wondering what to eat, just pick from your list. Your decision-fatigued brain will thank you.
