9 Simple Statements With the Power to Transform Your Relationships

Let’s be honest; Long-term relationships are tough.

And by “tough,” I mean they require work, time, and effort for a successful life partnership. Sure, there are couples that might seamlessly fit together. But for the rest of us, we often have to accept our partner’s faults (or look at them in a new light) and overcome more than a few hurdles to make it work.

So, if you’re at your wit's end and thinking that your current relationship might not be working out, well, you have the power to change your relationship. Sometimes, all it takes is a change in your perspective or behavior, which may fuel positive changes in your partner or allow you to see them in a new light…

Eat Like the Greeks: A Chicken Gyro for Increased Clarity

The Greeks are masters of using simple ingredients that nourish the body and mind, as well as bring out an array of incredible flavors (I mean, tzatziki anyone?).

One of the earliest known cookbooks was penned by the Greek poet Archestratus of Sicily in the mid-4th century BC.

His work, Hedypatheia (“Life of Luxury”), provided guidance on selecting and preparing seafood, emphasizing simple techniques that allowed the ingredients to shine.

And if you know Greek food, well, this probably comes as no surprise!

Archestratus is often also credited with introducing the concept of “gastronomy,” which he described as the guiding principles of the stomach.

Long before modern foodies, he outlined five timeless rules for cooking and eating well…

One Positive Action

Do a “Compliment Blitz”

Most of us notice good things about people all the time but keep those thoughts to ourselves. Instead of saying something, we just think it and move on. Meanwhile, everyone's walking around feeling invisible and unappreciated, missing out on these little moments of connection that could brighten their whole day.

A compliment blitz is simple - find 5 different people today and tell them something genuinely positive you notice about them. Not generic stuff like "nice shirt" but specific observations that show you're actually paying attention. "You explained that so clearly" or "You always make me laugh when I'm having a rough day" or "That color looks incredible on you." The key is being authentic - only say what you actually mean.

What happens is pretty magical. First, you'll make someone's day with literally zero effort on your part. But the real surprise is how good it makes you feel. Your brain starts actively looking for positive things in people instead of defaulting to criticism or indifference. You become that person who lifts others up, which changes how people respond to you and how you see yourself.

Pick 5 people you'll encounter today and commit to giving each one a genuine compliment. Could be your partner, a colleague, the cashier at lunch, a friend via text, whoever crosses your path. Notice something real and positive about them, then actually say it out loud, let them know it! Watch how their face lights up and how much better your day feels when you're spreading good energy instead of just consuming it.
