These 11 Relaxing Activities Will Refresh & Recharge Your Mind, Body and Spirit

On average, how many relaxing activities would you say you do each week?

If you find yourself feeling drained at the end of your day, you may need to prioritize some refresh and recharge time.

Running on empty can certainly catch up to you eventually – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Life has its busy times, for sure. However, if you’ll take just a bit of time regularly to relax, you’ll feel better. You’ll be more eager to face your days, rather than dread them. And, you’ll have more to give those you care about.

"You can't pour from an empty cup."

You've probably heard this saying - and for good reason! It means exactly what it sounds like...

Simple Weekday Motivation: Have Your Best Week Yet!

We’ve all been there: Despite the week starting off on a great note (or not), it’s only Tuesday, and it feels like we’re caught in the week that will never end. In fact, the day just seems to drag on and on. Wednesday rolls around, and we’re starting to think the weekend will never come.

The easy way out is to cut yourself some slack, let your work slide, and kickback. However, this often sets us up for overwhelm and stress down the road. Your future self isn’t going to be all-too-happy about it either.

The truth is we all need a little motivation and inspiration once and a while, especially when it feels like a drag of a week. And you’ll actually feel better getting stuff done, rather than letting things slide.

At the same time, burnout is all too real, so really tune into your body here and go off of what it’s telling you…

One Positive Action

Practice the "Good Enough" Principle

I’m a perfectionist, often to a horrible degree. I will often get stuck on projects or tasks where I get frustrated because it’s not coming out just so. Sometimes when my perfectionism is really rearing it’s ugly head I’ll get overwhelmed and bin the project entirely, an absolute productivity killer. Meanwhile, life keeps moving, deadlines come and go, opportunities pass by, and I’m stuck in an endless cycle of polishing things that were already just fine.

When you really get stuck, try just doing your project “good enough”. Instead of aiming for 100%, say 80% is good enough, and save that file, send that email, what have you. You’re not lowering your standards, or being lazy, you’re just getting the job done instead of faffing about on things that don’t really matter. Besides, the chances are, your 80% or “good enough” is actually pretty great, and you’re just catering to your inner procrastinator, or your inner secret imposter syndrome.

Deep perfectionism is often just fear in disguise. Fear that people will judge you, fear that you're not as good as you think you are, fear that this one thing will expose you as a fraud. So you keep tweaking and adjusting, convincing yourself you're being thorough when really you're just avoiding the scary moment of putting your work out there. But every minute you spend perfecting something that was already “good enough” is a minute stolen from actually living your life.

Pick something you've been overthinking this week. Set a timer, do it well enough to serve its purpose, then force yourself to call it done. Feel that uncomfortable flutter in your stomach as you release something that's merely good instead of perfect. That feeling? That's you choosing progress over paralysis, and it gets easier every time you do it.
