Why You’re Not ‘Too Much’: Tackling the Fear of Being Unlovable

Insecurity in relationships can feel like a constant battle against an invisible enemy.

Maybe you’ve sent a text, only to reread it a dozen times, dissecting every word and emoji.

Or perhaps you’ve opened up about your feelings, only to spend the next three hours second-guessing yourself.

You might even tell yourself, “I’m too much. I’ll scare them away.”

But here’s the truth: You are not too much. You’re human. And being human means you have feelings, needs, and—yes—a desire to connect.

Let’s unpack where that fear of being unlovable really comes from, why it’s lying to you, and how you can start letting go of it.

Love Languages in Action: Creative Ideas to Speak Your Partner’s Love Language

Love is a universal language. But the way we express and receive it can be remarkably different from person to person (and inevitably, culture to culture).

But have you ever found yourself putting tremendous effort into showing your love—only to feel like your gestures aren’t quite hitting the mark?

Or perhaps you’ve been on the receiving end of well-intentioned affection that somehow leaves you feeling disconnected rather than cherished?

The secret to bridging this gap lies in understanding and speaking your partner’s unique love language

Your Weekend Reset

Ready for a weekly reset? Try a few of these tips to unwind, connect, or get creative. We’ve got you covered to make the most of your downtime!

  • Go Sledding! (if you can): Who says sledding is just for kids? Bundle up, find a hill, and let yourself have some good old-fashioned, carefree fun. You’ll probably laugh more in one afternoon than you have all week, and hey, it’s also a sneaky workout if you’re hauling your sled back up the hill each time. Pro tip: pack a thermos of hot chocolate for when you’re ready to call it a day.

  • Have a DIY Spa Day: You can create the ultimate zen zone right at home. Throw on your comfiest robe, light some candles, and whip up a simple face mask (or grab one from the store, no judgment). Add a warm bath with some Epsom salts or essential oils, and let yourself actually relax. Bonus points if you toss in a hand massage or give yourself a mini manicure. You deserve this time to slow down, breathe, and feel a little pampered.

  • Make a Vision Board for Spring Goals: Grab some magazines, printouts, or even a Pinterest board, and start crafting your vision for the upcoming season. What do you want more of? What inspires you? Maybe it’s a travel destination, a fitness goal, or just more time outside soaking up the sun. Cut, glue, and arrange it all on a board (or digitally if that’s more your thing). Seeing your goals visually laid out has this cool way of making them feel more tangible, and it’s a fun way to dream a little bigger.

  • Audiobook Recommendation: The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor - This is another one that stays in my play list and I come back to from time to time for a top up. Instead of chasing achievements to find happiness, it’s actually happiness itself is what will fuel your success in all aspects of your life. Backed by research from one of the largest studies on happiness ever conducted, this book dives into how small, practical changes to our mindset and habits can rewire our brains for positivity.
