10 Powerful Ways You Can Start to Overcome Self-Doubt

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” – Suzy Kassem

Do you ever feel highly motivated and set some goals in that exact moment? But, before you start working towards them or even halfway towards them, you start hearing a lot of what-ifs?

Do you start questioning your ability and reevaluate what you think you are capable of achieving?

That is called self-doubt!

Self-doubt can feel like an overwhelming, debilitating and intense feeling of uncertainty. In some cases, it can hinder you from trying things you would have otherwise pursued.

This Week’s Mental Health Recipe

Warm Walnut-Date Milk for Slowing Your Brain to Sleep | Mental Health Recipes

When I'm tired or stressed, my brain kicks into overdrive the second my head hits the pillow. Suddenly I’m replaying conversations, worrying about things I can’t control, and mentally reorganizing my entire week at 11pm.

Then comes the hard part: I can’t sleep.

What follows is usually a couple of hours of tossing and turning… until eventually exhaustion takes over and a drift into an often shorter sleep than I would’ve preferred. And maybe you’ve experienced similar.

But…. When your mind just won’t quit, sometimes a warm, cozy drink is exactly what you need to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. And this Warm Walnut-Date Milk is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Walnuts are actually packed with melatonin—yes, the same hormone your body produces to help regulate sleep…

Sunday Reset

Sunday evenings have this weird energy as Monday creeps up on you. Instead of letting that anxiety just sit there, you can use those few minutes to set yourself up for a week that actually feels intentional.

The best way to do this is to pick just one priority for the week that connects to something bigger you're working toward. Maybe you've been wanting to get healthier, so your one priority is meal prepping on Wednesday, or you're trying to build a side project, so you commit to spending a few hours on it this week.

Instead of floating through seven days of random tasks and obligations, you have something anchoring you to what actually matters to you. That one priority becomes a guide that helps you make better decisions about how to spend your time and energy. When other things come up, you can ask yourself whether they support your priority or distract from it.

This practice also helps you feel more in control of your time. Instead of getting to Friday and wondering where the week went, you can look back and see progress on something that matters to you. Even if everything else feels chaotic, you protected time for one thing that aligns with your bigger goals, and that's not nothing.

Spend 15 minutes this Sunday thinking about one priority for the upcoming week. Write it down somewhere you'll see it. Make sure it connects to something larger you're working toward, whether that's better health, stronger relationships, career growth, or a personal project.
