One Positive Action

Invigorate Your Mind

Pay attention to how you use your mind most days. It usually falls into patterns. You are either organizing, deciding, solving, and managing details, or you are imagining, creating, responding intuitively, and thinking in broad strokes. Over time, that pattern becomes your default setting.

Neither mode is wrong, however, staying stuck in one mode of thinking can begin to narrow your mind. When you rely on the same mental approach day after day, it may be difficult to think about other perspectives or take on new tasks. You can begin to struggle or feel fatigued, because your mind is in desperate need of a change of pace.

Your brain responds well to contrast. Structure can steady a scattered mind while creativity can loosen a rigid one. Regardless of which side you default to, the shift can be refreshing.

There is no need to make it complicated. Notice which direction your brain has been leaning today. If you have been buried in tasks and decisions, spend ten minutes doing something unstructured. If you have been floating in ideas, spend ten minutes organizing something tangible.

Choose one short window today to think differently on purpose. Give your mind ten minutes in the opposite mode of what it has been doing, then return to your work and notice the difference. Take notice of the clarity it brings, and integrate it into your routines.
