Revenge Sleep Procrastination: What it is and 4 Ways to Stop it

Sometimes life gets so busy, and the 24 hours we get in a day simply is not enough for us to do everything we need (or want) to do.

We often find ourselves with a long list of priorities, and sadly, in some cases, sleep is at the bottom of that list. Some may consider it a luxury, and rather than ‘wasting’ a lot of time sleeping, they would rather use that time to do other things that they weren’t able to do during the day.

One Positive Action

List 3 Things That Went Right Today:

Some days feel like they drag you through the mud, and by the time you finally sit down, all you can think about is what went wrong. But if you really look, there’s always something, some small moment that didn’t completely suck. Maybe your coffee was the perfect temperature, or traffic was lighter than usual. Maybe a stranger held the door open for you. It doesn’t have to be earth-shattering, just something that made the day a little less heavy.

When you take a second to name these things, you start training your brain to notice them more. The good stuff is easy to overlook when stress and frustration take center stage, but it’s there. Writing down even three tiny wins, something as simple as “I answered that email I was dreading” or “I remembered to drink water” can shift your perspective. It reminds you that even on the tough days, you’re still moving forward, still catching small breaks, still finding pockets of okay.

You’re not ignoring real problems or pretending everything is fine, you’re just giving yourself a little proof that not everything is falling apart. And on the days when it really does feel like nothing went right, you can still count this: You made it through. You’re still here. And that’s worth something.
