One Positive Action
Let Someone Else Choose:
We make so many choices every day, from what to eat to what to watch to how to respond to a dozen different messages. By the time the day’s over, even the smallest decisions can feel exhausting. That’s decision fatigue, the mental burnout from making too many choices, big or small. And sometimes, the best way to break free from it is to hand the reins to someone else, just for a moment.
Letting someone else pick for you, a movie, a meal, a book, might seem like a small thing, but it’s actually a relief. You don’t have to overthink or weigh the options. You just go with it. And in doing that, you open yourself up to something unexpected, maybe even something you’d never have chosen on your own. It’s a tiny act of trust, letting someone else decide, and it can shake up your usual patterns in the best way.
There’s also something kind of nice about seeing what someone picks for you. It can tell you a lot about how they see you, what they think you’d enjoy, what they want to share with you. Maybe they pick a book they love because they think you’ll love it too. Maybe they order a meal that reminds them of a trip you took together. Whatever it is, you get to experience something through their eyes, and that alone makes it worth trying.
So next time you’re drained from making decisions all day, pass one off to someone you trust. Let them surprise you. Worst case, you try something new and don’t love it. Best case, you find your new favorite thing. Either way, you get a break from the endless cycle of choices, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
