4 Things You Should (and Should Not) Say to Someone With Anxiety

Most of us know at least one person who is battling anxiety (if we aren’t that one person ourselves).

Whenever we meet up with them, we try to do our best to give them the support they need and remind them how much they mean to us.

However, despite our good intentions, some of us have found ourselves in situations where our actions or words might backfire and make things even worse. We become confused and wish we had not said anything at all.

We may walk away in anger or frustration with the other person because we feel misunderstood or that they're focusing on the wrong thing. Why don't they recognize our good intentions and understand we're not here to fight but rather, to support them…

This Week’s Uplifting Stories

Positively Uplifting Stories | December 8 2025

Support can come in many forms and from many sources. Sometimes it comes from the people we love, and other times it comes from strangers in unexpected yet deeply profound ways.

Every moment of kindness has the power to lift our spirits and help us keep moving forward.

"What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you." —Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here are a few stories of kindness that serve as a reminder that we’re never truly alone!

  • A woman builds an inclusive playground in memory of her daughter

  • A shelter dog gets a second chance and learns to trust again

  • A community helps a family recover from a heartbreaking loss

  • A national event helps foster children find permanent homes

One Positive Action

60-Second Body Reset

You can be mentally overwhelmed without even realizing your body has been carrying the weight of it all day. Stress often shows up physically long before you notice it in your thoughts.

A 60-second body reset is a simple way to interrupt that pattern. It gives your nervous system a quick signal that you’re safe enough to slow down, even briefly.

This is how easy it can be to incorporate into your day. Pause whatever you’re doing and scan from head to toe. Notice any part of your body that feels tense, clenched, or pulled forward. Just notice it, then let each area soften just enough to feel the difference.

Unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, loosen your abdomen, and let your hands rest. Take one full breath in and one slow breath out.

All it takes is one minute.

This tiny pause doesn’t solve anything big, but it gives your mind and body a moment to recalibrate. The more often you do it, the more your body learns what “not stressed” actually feels like.

Take one minute today for a full-body reset. Repeat it whenever you shift tasks, get overwhelmed, or feel yourself speeding up. You’ll be surprised how much clarity returns when your body isn’t constantly bracing for chaos.
