18 Personal Growth Resolutions Anyone Can Tackle
It's the end of another year, and as usual, there's a lot going on.
Christmas shopping, sending final reports before the year ends, work office parties and most importantly, reflecting on how the year went.
For those like me, who captured their goals for the year, we're digging into old journals or scrolling through our writing to find that one particular note. It's an exciting time to look back and see what we should take into the new year and what we should leave behind.
Isn't that the point of reflection…
From Frustrated to Focused: How Building Patience Improves Decision-Making
Think about the last decision you made while you were frustrated.
Maybe you fired off a message you later wished you’d worded differently.
Maybe you rushed into a choice just to get the pressure off your chest.
We’ve all been there. When frustration shows up, it has this sneaky way of convincing us that doing something (anything) is better than sitting with the discomfort for another second.
But that urge to move fast usually doesn’t lead to clarity. It leads to regret. Or cleanup. Or that quiet thought later on: Yeah… I probably could’ve handled that better.
What most people don’t realize is that better decision-making doesn’t come from thinking harder or gathering more information.
It often comes from building patience, or the ability to pause without panicking, to slow down just enough for your brain to actually work with you instead of against you. And once you start doing that, frustration loses a lot of its power…
One Positive Action
Clear One Quiet Weight
This time of year has a way of bringing everything to the surface. The noise dies down, the calendar empties, and suddenly you can feel the things you’ve been carrying without realizing it.
To clear everything would be overwhelming and unrealistic, so today we’re just going to choose one small weight that you’re carrying and set it down.
When something stays unresolved, your brain keeps it open in the background, stealing passive energy from you. Over time, those open loops add up and create a low-level tension that makes rest harder and focus difficult. Clearing just one of them can bring more relief than tackling ten things halfway.
Look at your mental to-do list and ask yourself which item keeps resurfacing. Choose the simplest version of completion. We’re not aiming for perfection or closure, just aiming for done.
Letting something end frees up space and tells your nervous system that not everything has to stay pending. Clarity often comes from action, not overthinking.
Identify one unresolved task, conversation, or decision that’s been quietly weighing on you. Complete it today in the simplest way possible, then pause and notice how much lighter your mind feels with just that one thing resolved.
