Trying to Fix Someone Else? Consider These 4 Things First

We’re all trying to live a life where we experience more peace and joy.

This is the main reason we do the things we do each day, because we think those things will help us feel better.

But what about when people we know show up hurting or feeling like they are broken? What do you tend to do?

  • Do you brush them off, not knowing how to contend with the negative vibes?

  • Or do you roll your sleeves up, ready to get to work fixing them?

We all run into situations where a loved one is struggling. Maybe they’re working with a broken heart over a breakup. Or they’ve lost their job. Or maybe they’re dealing with anxiety or depression

Stop Letting Your Intrusive Thoughts Steal Your Happiness: 4 Ways to Beat Them

Having intrusive thoughts is like opening a can of worms.

Every overthinker out there knows exactly what this means - once you acknowledge one, more come slithering into our brains. Obviously, we're better off without these thoughts, as they can eat away at our peace of mind.

Let us paint you a picture.

You're at dinner with friends and all of a sudden, a random question pops up in your mind. Out of the blue, you hear a voice saying your friends are only putting up with you because you tagged along.

"No one wants you there. And if you weren't there, hardly anyone would miss you."

Sound familiar? How about this one...

You're having a wonderful time with your partner -  but the voice in your mind says otherwise…

One Positive Action

Two-Question Check-In

The two-question check-in is a simple way to interrupt mental spirals before it completely takes over. It’s short enough to use anywhere, and structured enough that it actually brings clarity instead of just more thinking.

When you feel overwhelmed, irritated, or mentally foggy, stop and ask yourself two questions:

What is the actual problem right now?

What is one small action that would help me move forward?

These two questions help you shift from the emotional to the practical. They also remind your brain that you are capable of taking the next step even when you don’t feel at your best. The more often you use this exercise, the faster you recover your focus when your mind starts drifting somewhere unhelpful.

Use the two-question check-in at least once today. The moment you feel overwhelmed, pause and ask yourself: “What’s the real issue right now?” and “What’s one small action that would help?” Then take that one step and leave the rest for when your mind steadies.
