This Week’s Uplifting Stories

Positively Uplifting Stories | December 9 2024

Every day, everywhere, seemingly ordinary people do extraordinary things for others, just out of the kindness of their hearts. These are the ones who prove how much value there is in showing up for others and doing what is right and good.

So, each week, we celebrate the everyday heroes among us who make us believe in the power of kindness.

We can all be heroes: in our virtues, in our homes, in our lives. - James Ellis

Let’s look at this week’s uplifting stories…

One Positive Action

Create a Self-Care Wishlist

Sometimes self-care feels like something other people do, like you’re supposed to just magically know how to make time for yourself in between everything else. Spoiler: you’re not. That’s why a self-care wishlist is such a game-changer. It’s not about being fancy or perfect; it’s just taking a minute to figure out what you actually need.

Grab a piece of paper or your notes app and write down a few things that feel like care to you. Maybe it’s taking a walk without your phone, calling someone who gets you, or sitting quietly with a cup of coffee while the world stays outside for five minutes. Don’t overthink it. It doesn’t have to be deep or life-changing, it just has to be something that makes you feel more like yourself.

Now, here’s the catch: pick one thing from that list and actually do it. No waiting for the “right” moment or until you’ve crossed off everything else on your to-do list. Just make it happen. A walk, a phone call, or even sitting in your car alone for a breather counts. The point isn’t to fix everything, it’s just to remind yourself you’re worth showing up for.

And hey, keep the list going. Add to it whenever something pops into your head. You don’t have to do it all at once, but having those ideas ready for when you need them? That’s self-care in itself.
