10 Stress-Reducing Foods to Help You Unwind and Relax

Stress is a completely normal part of life. We all go through stressful times.

However, chronic and persistent stress can quickly become problematic for your health and quality of life.

At the same time, what you do—or what you eat—can help in leaps and bounds, allowing you to get any stress under control before it becomes a bigger problem. In fact, a lot of health woes (mental and physical) come back to your diet.

At the end of the day, your diet offers your body the building blocks and resources to function optimally.

If you aren’t getting adequate nutrition, things can start to go a little awry (including increased stress throughout the body!).

  • So, what stress-reducing foods should you add to your diet?

  • How can you de-stress through the food your eat?

Invest in Yourself! 5 Ways to Create a Future You Deserve

We don’t always have the time we think we have and the best time to start planning our future is now

People around us can contribute to our future well-being, but we are the ones who have to do most of the work. Often times we look back and see some things we wish we could have done differently or someone could have warned us.

As I write this article, I feel like a time traveler who is here to help you invest in yourself such that your future self will be grateful.

Your Weekend Reset

Ready for a weekly reset? Try a few of these tips to unwind, connect, or get creative. We’ve got you covered to make the most of your downtime!

  • Take a scenic drive: There’s something magical about bundling up, hopping in the car, and driving through neighborhoods that have gone all out with their holiday lights. It’s cozy, nostalgic, and just the right amount of festive. Whether it’s the classic white lights or full-on blinking color chaos (bonus points for synchronized music). Bring along a thermos of hot cocoa, cue up some holiday tunes, and make an event of it. Extra fun if you give out awards like “Most Extra” or “Best Griswold Vibes.”

  • Indoor Plant Care: Repot or Propagate Your Greens: This one’s for all of us who call ourselves “plant parents” but secretly know we’ve been slacking. Winter’s the perfect time to give your plants a little extra TLC. Whether it’s repotting the monstera that’s outgrown its home or propagating some pothos to spread the green around, it’s oddly satisfying and soothing. Plus, it’s a great way to scratch that itch to nurture something when the world outside feels a little too gray.

  • Plan Your Dream Vacation Itinerary for Fun: Even if you’re not booking a ticket anytime soon, planning a dream vacation is the ultimate escape. Dive into researching destinations, local foods, and all the quirky must-see spots. Create an itinerary so detailed you’ll feel like you’ve already been there. It’s a fun mental break, and who knows? You might just set something in motion for a future adventure.

  • Audiobook Recommendation: Daring Greatly by Brené Brown is all about vulnerability, but not in a cheesy “share your deepest secrets at brunch” way. It shows us how opening up can build deeper connections and why it’s worth leaning into discomfort sometimes. It’s raw, inspiring, and oddly comforting. Perfect for a long walk or a quiet afternoon when you’re in the mood to reflect and grow.f this is still on your list, you should definitely pick it up.
