How Childhood Experiences Shape Adult Jealousy

Jealousy.

It’s one of those emotions we don’t like to talk about, yet it sneaks into our lives when we least expect it:

  • at work

  • in our relationships

  • scrolling through social media

What if I told you that some of those feelings could be traced back to your childhood? Yes, those seemingly distant memories of growing up might hold the key to understanding why jealousy can feel so overwhelming as an adult.

Let’s dive into how childhood experiences shape adult jealousy - and more importantly, how we can start healing from it…

5 Tips to Help You Ease Loneliness During the Holidays

Many people struggle with feeling loneliness, and especially around the holidays.

It's a time where the focus lands on enjoying happy times with family and friends. But so many people struggle through the holiday season, for one reason or another.

I get it.

Many people may not be able to afford gifts or traveling this year, or weather has gotten in the way of you being able to be with your loved ones. Maybe it's the anniversary of losing someone in your life - or you lost someone earlier this year, or have some bad blood, or went through a break up…

One Positive Action

Try 5 minutes of Free Writing:

Sometimes your brain feels like it’s stuffed full of static, thoughts buzzing around with no order or sense. That’s where five minutes of freewriting can help. As always, it’s not about making something perfect or polished; it’s just about dumping everything in your head onto a page so it’s not all swirling around up there anymore.

Set a timer, grab a notebook, or open a blank doc, and let it rip. Write down whatever comes to mind, no matter how random, petty, or ridiculous it seems. Maybe it’s a list of things you forgot to do yesterday or a rant about how your neighbor still hasn’t taken down their Halloween decorations. Maybe it’s just a string of half-thoughts. It doesn’t have to make sense. The only rule is to keep writing until the timer dings.

This isn’t about being productive or profound; it’s about getting out of your own way. You’re giving yourself a place to vent, ramble, or just unload all the mental clutter that’s weighing you down. By the end of those five minutes, you might feel a little lighter or at least like you’ve taken a breather from overthinking.

When you’re done, read it back if you want, or don’t. The point isn’t the end result; it’s the process. Let it be messy, let it be raw, and let it stay just for you. It’s five minutes where you don’t have to filter or fix anything. Just let it all spill out.
