Positively Uplifting Stories | August 4 2025

So many of us feel lonely and disconnected from time to time, but it's so important to remember that you’re not alone.

If you reach out and share your story, you may find support from unexpected places. Try your best to embrace a spirit of courage and compassion through the difficult times.

Even a brief conversation with a kind stranger can create space for healing and growth.

One Positive Action

Morning Energy Shield

Are you guilty of waking up and immediately grab your phone? Scrolling through emails, news alerts, and social media notifications before your feet even hit the floor. By the time you're brushing your teeth, you're already mentally responding to your boss's urgent email, worrying about that friend's relationship drama from their 2 AM text, and feeling overwhelmed by the world's problems that somehow landed in your notifications overnight. Your day has already started off in a state of overwhelm. You've just handed over your precious morning energy to everyone else's agenda before you even decided what your own day should look like.

The Morning Energy Shield is a protective barrier you create around the first 30 minutes of your day where only energy-giving activities are allowed. This might mean starting with gentle stretching, journaling, sipping coffee in silence, reading something inspiring, listening to music that makes you feel alive, or simply sitting quietly and setting intentions for your day. The key is that these activities serve you and fill your cup before the hectic day begins.

When you protect this sacred morning time you start the day from a place of fullness rather than depletion. You'll notice you handle stressful situations with more grace, make better decisions throughout the day, and feel less reactive to other people's moods and demands. It's like the difference between starting a road trip with a full gas tank versus one that's already running on fumes. Your morning energy shield becomes the foundation that supports everything else you want to accomplish.

Tomorrow morning, set your alarm 30 minutes earlier and commit to spending that time on one activity that energizes you (and avoid using your phone, if you can!). If waking up earlier feels impossible, try changing your routine. Maybe do your energy-giving activity before checking your phone, or while your coffee brews, or during what used to be mindless scrolling time. The specific activity matters less than the commitment to putting your energy needs first before engaging with the outside world's demands.
