Your Identity: Your Problems Do Not Define You - 5 Things to Consider
It's so easy to get comfortable living in the shadow of whatever you're going through that you forget there's actually a whole person standing behind those challenges.
Have you ever introduced yourself to the world through your wounds?
Maybe it sounds like:
"I'm the anxious one,"
"I'm just not good at relationships,"
"I'm the person who always struggles with money."
Without even realizing it, you might be wearing your struggles like a name tag, unconsciously believing that your pain is your personality and your problems are your identity.
But you are not your problems. Your identity exists far beyond whatever challenge…
15 Bedtime Rituals to Practice for a Good Night's Sleep
Ah, bedtime rituals! We all know we should do them, but many of us don’t have them.
Then, we toss and turn for hours - basically praying to the sleep gods to allow us to get even a little bit or a few hours of sleep. And while what you do during the day matters, so does what you do right before bed.
So, what bedtime rituals can you practice to get a good night’s sleep?
What should you know beyond the obvious?
Let’s take a look.
What is a Positive Bedtime Routine?
A positive bedtime routine is a ritual or habit you perform before bedtime to help you ease into sleep (usually taking up about 30-60 minutes before you head to bed). These activities help you wind down from your day and signal to your brain that it’s time to relax.
And here’s a little secret for you…
A positive bedtime routine doesn’t have…

Identity List
When life gets heavy, it’s easy to let your struggles become the loudest part of your story. Stress, setbacks, and challenges have a way of taking up all the space in your mind until they start to feel like your whole identity. But you are so much more than the hard things you’re facing. You’re a collection of strengths, passions, values, and qualities that exist outside of the struggle. Sometimes, you just need to remind yourself of that.
When I realized I was defining myself by the negatives, I knew I had to make a big change. I began a practice at redefining my identity in the positive with an Identity List. Take a moment today to write down five things that define who you are beyond what you’re going through. Maybe it’s your creativity, your loyalty to friends, your sense of humor, your ability to keep going when things get tough, or the way you light up when helping others. The list doesn’t need to be perfect or profound, it just needs to reflect the real parts of you that exist outside of hardship.
The benefit of this practice is perspective. When you see your qualities on paper, it pulls your attention away from the struggle and back to the truth: your problems don’t define you. They’re part of your story, yes, but not the whole book. This shift can reduce the weight of whatever you’re carrying and help you approach challenges with more confidence, resilience, and self-compassion.
Today, grab a notebook or open your notes app and make your Identity List. Write down five things that make you you; the parts of yourself that can’t be taken away by circumstances. Keep the list somewhere you can see it often. Let it be a reminder that you are more than your struggles, you are the strength that carries you through them.
