6 Calming Anxiety Techniques to Beat the Panic in Minutes or Less

Most of us have experienced anxiety at least once.

That could have been before waking up to talk to someone, an interview or a presentation. Sometimes just thinking of your responsibilities and to-do list can trigger anxiety.

Sadly, in most cases, the more anxious we are, the worse we perform. Dealing with anxiety can be frustrating as sometimes it feels like you do not have control over your thoughts.

That is why it is important for us to master techniques to deal with anxiety both immediately and in the long term!

6 Ways to Cope With Stress in Less Than Five Minutes

1. Breathe.

When we are anxious, our heart rate increases, and in some cases, we even start sweating a bit.

The increased heart rate can be slowed down by taking deep breaths. Whenever I am anxious, this is…Continue Reading

4 Neuroscience-Backed Studying Tips to Improve Your Learning Skills

Learning, studying for exams, or studying, in general, is not only about memorizing and retaining information.

You also don't have to be in school to be learning or studying something! Many people take on new languages, workshops, challenging booklists, or simply want to immerse themselves in new and interesting subjects such as history, yoga, psychology, marketing, starting a website, etc.

To become a better learner, we have to understand how our brain works. Learning what happens inside our brain during active learning can help overcome many obstacles. With that said, here are some neuroscience-based study tips that can help you become a more effective and confident learner.

The Inner Conversation

“I Can’t Afford to Rest”

The email came at 9:47 PM on a Sunday. Nothing urgent, just someone asking about a project deadline for next month. But I felt that familiar surge - the need to respond immediately, to show I was available, dedicated, always on.

I caught myself reaching for my laptop and stopped.

When did rest become a luxury I can't afford?

Somewhere along the way, we learned that our worth equals our productivity. That stopping means falling behind. That rest is earned only after everything else is done - which, let's be honest, is never.

I used to think rest was selfish and downtime was wasted time. I'd pack my weekends with productivity, schedule vacation days around work projects, and feel guilty about taking lunch breaks. I mistook exhaustion for dedication and burnout for achievement.

Then I crashed. Not dramatically - no hospital visits or breakdowns. Just a quiet, persistent emptiness. Coffee stopped working. Work that used to energize me felt like pushing through mud. I'd accomplished everything I thought I wanted and felt nothing.

That's when I realized: I wasn't more productive because I never rested. I was less productive, less creative, less present, less human. I was running on empty and calling it commitment.

Rest isn't the opposite of productivity - it's what makes productivity sustainable. It's not time stolen from your goals; it's what allows you to pursue them with clarity and energy instead of depleting yourself in the process.

Real rest isn't just sleep, though sleep matters.

It's permission to exist without producing.

It's saying no to good opportunities to save energy for great ones. It's understanding that:

  • your nervous system needs to downshift

  • your mind needs to wander

  • your body needs to move without purpose sometimes

You can afford to rest because you can't afford not to. Your future self - the one with bigger dreams and deeper impact - needs you to take care of the person you are right now. Your family needs you present, not just productive. Your work needs your best thinking, not your most hours.

  • The world will not fall apart if you take a real weekend.

  • The project will not fail if you set boundaries.

  • The opportunity will not disappear if you sleep eight hours.

What will disappear is your capacity for joy, creativity, and connection if you keep running on empty.

Rest is not earned. It's required. Start there.
