Whenever I talk to people about philosophies and principles I become fascinated.

There are endless sources of wisdom out there and lately, many Japanese views are at the top of my interest. Having read a bit about them, and as you can probably guess, there is a lot of material to cover.

Your Burnout Self-Care Routine: 5 Small Steps to Get You Back

Burnout is a beast, isn’t it?

You don’t just wake up one day and say, “Oh, I’m burned out!”

It creeps up on you slowly—until one day, you feel like you’re stuck in quicksand and can’t move. Maybe you're overwhelmed, mentally drained, or just emotionally tapped out. It’s not a great place to be, but here’s the good news: you can work your way out of it, even if you’re not sure where to start.

The key is to start small.

You’re not expected to fix everything at once! In fact, the first step is just taking care of your basic needs.

Let’s break this down into phases so you can gently find your way back to feeling like yourself again

One Positive Action

Notice How Often You Rush

Pay attention to your pace today. Not just how much you have to do, but how quickly you move through it. You may find that you rush through things that do not actually require speed.

You start one task while thinking about the next. You move your body faster than your attention can keep up. By the end of the day, it can feel like you were always in motion without ever settling into what you were doing.

Rushing stops being about time and starts becoming a habit; a constant state of fight or flight. Even when there is no real urgency, your mind stays slightly ahead, pushing you forward.

That constant pace creates tension and you’re anxiety builds when it doesn’t need to.

Slowing down probably doesn’t even require changing your schedule. It starts with noticing when you are moving faster than necessary. Your awareness can interrupt the habit.

Today, catch yourself when you’re rushing. When you notice it, slow your movement for the next minute, match your attention to what you are doing and let that one moment reset your pace before continuing.
