How to Speak Up & Say What You Want: You Don't Have to Be Silent!
Written by: Dominica
Throughout our lives, it’s inevitable that we will face difficult circumstances - and challenging people.
Life will not always go as planned and people will not always act like we want them to. That’s just the way it goes.
I think that as we grow personally, it is important to learn how to speak up for ourselves and hold our ground when boundaries are crossed, or we are facing fear.
I also believe people ought to feel empowered and confident. There will most likely be someone in your life periodically telling you what you can and cannot do.

One Positive Action
Do One Task Without Switching
You move between tasks more often than you think. A message interrupts your focus. You check something quickly, then return to what you were doing. Each shift feels so minuscule, but it breaks your attention.
Every time you move away from what you are doing, your mind has to reset. It takes time to return to the same level of focus. The task becomes harder because your attention has become divided.
When you focus on a single task from start to finish, your thinking becomes more direct. You make progress without constantly restarting. The work feels clearer, and the time you spend on it becomes more effective.
This doesn’t require long periods of focus, in fact, by minimizing distractions you’ll probably finish faster.
Distractions will still appear but the difference is how you respond to them. You can notice them without acting on them.
Choose one task today and commit to finishing it without switching to anything else. Put your phone aside and keep your attention on the task until it is complete. Notice how much easier it is to finish when you do not break your focus.
