6 Ways to Celebrate Your Wins: Big or Small!
We all have those moments — big or small — that mark a special achievement or a milestone in our lives.
But how often do we actually stop to celebrate these wins?
Personally, this is something I’ve struggled with, never one for the spotlight. It can be tough to acknowledge ourselves when we achieve a goal or a win.
And, yet, every single mental wellness and confidence blog tells us never to forget to celebrate your wins every step of the way (I’m even guilty of preaching this myself but not exactly following through).
Listen - whether it's nailing a presentation at work, hitting a personal fitness goal, or simply getting through a tough week, there's always a reason to pat yourself on the back!
And I’ll be the first to say we should. (I’m also on a quest to improve the language I use with myself, so let me back up a second here…)
We are going to (no “should”) celebrate our wins!
And a reminder for you and me: It doesn’t have to be anything huge. Celebrating these moments can range…
Learning to Accept That Sometimes, Closure Never Comes
We tend to imagine closure as something clean.
A final conversation.
A clear explanation.
A moment where everything that felt tangled suddenly makes sense, and you walk away lighter because now, finally, you understand what happened.
But life rarely behaves that neatly.
Sometimes a relationship ends and no one explains why in a way that actually satisfies you.
Sometimes the apology never comes.
Sometimes the person who hurt you moves on as if nothing happened, while you’re left carrying questions that don’t seem to expire.
And maybe the hardest part is this: even when time passes, part of you still waits. Not always dramatically. Sometimes quietly. A small part of your mind still hoping for the text, the conversation, the acknowledgment that would somehow put the whole thing in order.…
One Positive Action
Shorten the Gap
You often know what needs to be done before you do it. A small task comes to mind, and for a moment it feels simple. The longer you wait, the task begins to feel heavier than it actually is.
Delay creates resistance. The longer you leave something undone, the more effort it seems to require.
When you act soon after the thought appears, the task stays manageable. You avoid the buildup of hesitation and second-guessing. What felt easy at the start remains easy because you did not give it time to grow.
This approach will reduce overthinking and spiralling about what you need to do, and allow you to soak up your day instead of dwelling in the mundane. When you respond quickly to small tasks, you maintain momentum and keep your mental space clear.
When a small task comes to mind today, begin it within five minutes. Do not schedule it or think it through repeatedly. Start the action and follow it through. Notice how much easier it feels when you act before resistance has time to build.
