6 Helpful Mental Health Supplements to Enrich Your Diet

We are encouraged to eat various fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods for better health.

However, there’s a major problem emerging with modern farming practices: Partly due to soil depletion, our fruits and vegetables are actually less nutritious than they were decades ago. And this continues on through future generations.

Simply put: Modern agricultural methods strip the soil of nutrients, which, inevitably, means they don’t end up in the food we eat. While you definitely shouldn’t give up eating fruits and veggies (they still pack a powerful punch!), more and more people are turning to supplements to fill this gap.

So, maybe you’ve turned your attention toward supplements for mental health.

How can you use supplements as an “insurance policy” for your diet?

Kefir: Sip Your Way to a Happier Gut

Okay, I was skeptical of kefir at first, too.

But after digging into how truly beneficial this food is for the gut, I tried it. It’s basically like a drinkable yogurt but with a little more tanginess (which is why adding a bit of sweetness can really spruce it up!).

So, if that piques your interest, keep reading.

While we often separate what we eat from how we feel emotionally, emerging research is revealing a profound connection between our gut health and our mental state…

One Positive Action

Take some time to Dream Build:

Dream-building is one of the most generous things you can do for yourself. It doesn’t require a whiteboard or a five-year plan. You don’t need to optimize it or explain it. It begins in the quiet moments, when your mind wanders toward something you’ve always wanted to try, or someplace you’ve always wanted to be, or some version of you that feels a little closer to the truth.

Most of us have learned to dismiss those flickers as impractical. We call them distractions, or whims, or daydreams. But those moments are clues. They’re breadcrumbs. They point to the kind of life that feels spacious and interesting and alive to you. And no one else can define what that looks like. You don’t owe anyone a justification for what makes your heart lean forward.

When you dream-build, you’re returning to the part of yourself that hasn’t gone quiet yet. The part that still gets excited. That part is still in there, and it’s still paying attention. Every time you sketch out a dream, even privately, you’re telling that part of yourself: I haven’t forgotten you.

Take ten minutes today and sketch out one dream. Doesn’t matter how rough it is. A sentence, a doodle, a feeling, a note on your phone. Let it live somewhere. Let it remind you that imagining something more is not a luxury. It’s part of how we stay awake to our own lives.
