The Quiet Power of Being Unapologetically Average
What if I told you that being unapologetically average might actually be the secret to feeling alive again?
Not “average” in the boring, beige, give-up-on-your-dreams way. I’m talking about the kind of average that lets you breathe. That says,
“You don’t have to hustle yourself into a shell of a human just to be worthy.”
We live in a world that worships overachievement. If you’re not leveling up, optimizing, crushing goals, and rising and grinding before sunrise, are you even trying?
But here’s the thing: that constant chase? It’s making us tired.
Like… soul-deep tired…
15 Things Mentally Strong People Do When the Going Gets Tough
Life comes with inevitable change – sometimes it’s easy and nice, other times it is hard and painful.
But whether we consider them good or bad is all up to us. True, some of these ups and downs may be stressful and add pressure to our lives, but it is always up to us to face them.
And considering this, a lot of our responses to these hurdles are based on how mentally prepared we are. The quality of being “mentally strong” ceases to be another fancy word or cool thing to have, but a crucial survival tool.
Mentally strong people are able to jump on opportunities and make the best of them. They're also able to take the problems, obstacles and pressure life throws at them and turn them into lessons and opportunities to grow from…
One Positive Action
Plan tomorrow’s top task:
It’s way too easy to end the day with a dozen loose ends and wake up already behind. Your brain starts spinning the second you open your eyes; what did I forget, what’s most urgent, where do I even begin? And in that fog, it’s easy to default to whatever feels most urgent, not what is actually important. But if you take one minute the night before to name the one thing you want to focus on, you give yourself a clear place to start. No scrambling, no second-guessing, just one decision already made.
When you decide your top task ahead of time, it takes the decision-making pressure out of the moment. You don’t have to waste energy in the morning figuring out where to start, or convincing yourself to do something hard. It’s already been decided. You just begin. That small shift, choosing once, instead of re-deciding over and over, saves a surprising amount of mental energy.
It also lowers the odds of getting pulled into everyone else’s priorities. Without a plan, it’s easy to spend the first half of the day reacting to texts, emails, distractions, everything except the thing that actually matters to you. But when you’ve got one clear task already in place, it gives your day a kind of shape. You start from a place of direction, not from overwhelm. And that changes everything.
So before you go to bed tonight, write down the one task you want to start with tomorrow. Not necessarily the biggest or hardest, just the one that you want most to make sure it gets done. Put it somewhere you’ll see it in the morning. That way, you’re not starting your day by reacting to whatever shows up first. You’ve already chosen your direction. All that’s left is to follow it.
