Why You Need to Build Your Own Mental Health Emergency Kit

Most of us have a first aid kit somewhere in our homes. We keep it stocked and accessible, knowing that accidents and injuries are inevitable parts of life.

But what about our mental and emotional well-being? Shouldn’t we have resources ready for those moments when our mental health needs immediate attention, too?

A mental health emergency kit serves exactly this purpose - a personalized collection of tools, techniques, and resources you can turn to during emotional distress.

Just as you wouldn’t wait until you’re actively bleeding to assemble a first aid kit, creating your mental health emergency kit before you need it ensures you have support readily available during life’s difficult moments…

10 Tips for a Strong Mind That Anyone Can Achieve

A strong mind means you can navigate life’s hurdles and stressors with ease and without letting those tough moments hold you back (sounds great, right?).

Your mind is powerful! It can be the difference between you completing a task or achieving a goal—or not.

Yet, if you aren’t flexing your mind, as you would any muscle in your body, it’s also easy to build walls with limiting beliefs and allow negative thoughts to spiral out of control.

Luckily, there are many ways you can become more mentally strong. The truth is the power of your mind is completely within your control. Sometimes, we just all need a little reminder and a little nudge to do the things that create a strong mind.

So, what should you be doing? How can you become mentally strong?

One Positive Action

Turn envy into curiosity:

Every now and then, we catch ourselves feeling that little spark of longing when we see someone else doing something we’d love to do, or living in a way that speaks to a deep part of us. The healthiest thing to do with envy is to think to yourself good for them, but sometimes that longing can make us feel uncomfortable. That spark isn’t something to be ashamed of, it’s a signal. It’s your heart quietly saying, Hey, pay attention to this. It matters.

Instead of judging yourself for feeling it, try to lean in with curiosity. What exactly is drawing you in? Is it their creativity, their freedom, their boldness? Often it’s less about wanting what they have, and more about recognizing something in them that you’d like to grow within yourself. When you treat these moments with curiosity instead of criticism, you turn them into clues about your own desires and direction.

What you’ll probably notice is this feeling isn’t telling you that you’re not enough, it’s reminding you of what you care about deeply. That’s worth listening to. Rather than letting that moment pass in frustration, take it as a gentle nudge to reconnect with something meaningful to you. It might not be about replicating someone else’s path, but about seeing what it wakes up in you.

So here’s your action: if you notice that flicker today, pause for a second and write down what it’s pointing toward. Get specific. What’s the deeper thing underneath that feeling? I mean, do we really want the red Ferrari, and all the payments and headache that comes with it, or is it the sense of freedom or excitement? Once you’ve named it, jot down one small thing you could do to explore it further. Moments like this are about clarity, not comparison. Use them to come closer to what matters to you.
